Why Blog?

Writer's picture: Abraham WilliamsAbraham Williams

I have seen and been the person who has made fun of people with blogs, live streams, and social media accounts seeming to display themselves. To this day, I still crack up at the people I know that create a website or even a ministry after their name.

As I was thinking this morning driving into work on how can I take my ministry and FishcreekNaz to a new level of outreach and discipleship. I felt conflicted when I thought about my online presence on social media outlets, as I have tried to stay the “safe side” on social media and aimed to be a middle of the road person. Someone that never posted anything controversial and flooded my media accounts with pictures of my family and random things like cars or guitars.

I realized that I had become a participant of what scripture would call Lukewarm Christianity. I was not posting as I didn’t want to offend or make waves in the social media world. I remember this scripture:

“So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is a sin.”

I realized this morning that I know the right things to do on social media, and I have had moments to speak up and create a dialogue that would have been healthy or helped the kingdom of God prosper in our world. Instead, I failed to act on it as I have preconceived notions on social media and a reluctance that has hindered me from speaking out.

In a time of COVID, Racism, Political Christianity, Dying Churches, and Neglected and Hurting people. I have been on the sidelines, cheering. Today marks a commitment in my life of following God’s call and using my social media platform for the kingdom of God.

My hope is beginning a dialogue here with God’s people that it can be Charitable and Civil. Today all I see is ugliness and arguing in the body of Christ. What if we honored God on social media instead of bickering and trolling. Revival can break out on a place like social media, I believe.

Let this scripture be the guiding principle for this blog.

“But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect”

With Love,

Pastor Abe
